ABOUT US
Delius Klasing is one of the leading special interest publishers in Europe. We publish in the water sports, cycling, sports and automotive segments. As a specialist in these subject areas, we are successfully active in all forms of media.
Our guiding principle and aspiration is to be first-class in all publishing and product fields. High-quality content, top product quality and excellent service characterise Delius Klasing's profile.
Founded in Berlin in 1911, the company can look back on more than a century of publishing history at its current headquarters in Bielefeld. The publishing house employs more than 200 people in Bielefeld, Munich, Stuttgart and Hamburg.
The programme of the traditional company includes about 1300 available book titles, about 40 calendars and numerous software products. About 100 new publications are added annually. The maritime and automotive book programme is the main focus of the novelties, which are rounded off by an extensive range of outdoor, sports and cycling literature. The programme is complemented by more than 630 e-books and numerous online and app offerings.
Delius Klasing Verlag and Die Werkstatt, the leading football book publisher in the German-speaking world, have had a strategic partnership since July 2016. In July 2018, a second step was taken in the cooperation, in which Delius Klasing increased its previous 49 per cent stake in the Göttingen-based publisher to 100 per cent. Die Werkstatt continues its ambitious sports book programme, which includes almost 500 available titles, as an independent publishing house.
18 magazines from all of the publishing house's subject areas make up the magazine portfolio. YACHT, Europe's largest water sports magazine, leads the maritime segment, flanked by the YACHT classic, SURF, BOOTE, BOOTE EXCLUSIV and YACHT classic publications. The annual magazine SUP has been aimed at fans of the trend sport stand-up paddling since 2014. In April 2021, SURF and SUP will provide their readers with a 60-page wingsurf special in their issues for the first time. At the same time, a new online magazine was launched, www.wingsurf.world, which is dedicated to the new trend sport in great detail.
BIKE - Europe's first mountain bike magazine - and TOUR, Europe's first and still leading road bike magazine, are now at the top of the bicycle magazines from Delius Klasing Verlag. The title FREERIDE is the ideal complement to Delius Klasing's cycling segment. Since 2015, Delius Klasing has also been providing a comprehensive market overview once a year with "E-Bike - der Katalog" for anyone who wants to find out specifically about current e-models. Since spring 2016, for the first time, there has been a separate magazine especially for fans of e-mountain bikes with EMTB.
The need for information on the topic of "cycling", especially on e-bike concepts and e-relevant topics, is constantly growing. More and more people are rediscovering or rediscovering cycling through e-mobility. Europe's largest bicycle publisher Delius Klasing is responding to this market development with a new magazine in February 2018. MYBIKE delivers a variety of topics on bicycles with a focus on e-bikes every two months. In spring 2019, for the first time, a MYBIKE special issue will be published on the topic of bicycle travel, aimed at everyone who likes to spend their leisure time and holidays on their own bike.
In the automotive segment, Delius Klasing impresses with its exceptional expertise on the subject of Volkswagen. GUTE FAHRT and VW CLASSIC cover the entire VW range in magazine form.
Delius Klasing has been serving classic car enthusiasts since 2011 with the twice-yearly magazine PORSCHE KLASSIK. The world of automotive miniatures is presented by MODELL FAHRZEUG magazine, which has been a leader in this small but select market for years and was able to expand this position with the integration of MODELL MAGAZIN magazine in spring 2015.
As a corporate publishing service provider (www.dkcp.de), Delius Klasing has been successfully active for decades for renowned partners from the automotive industry, among others, and has made a good name for itself internationally.
Another mainstay of the company is the event sector with a total of around 30 events of its own, specially tailored to the needs of the various publishing target groups. These include, for example, the BIKE and TOUR Transalp, the BIKE Festivals in Willingen, Riva del Garda and Saalfelden-Leogang and, since 2018, "E-Motions", the e-bike event at Lake Millstatt in Carinthia.
Its consistent closeness to its target group and its claim to offer its readers the best service are also reflected in the digital activities of Delius Klasing Verlag. Here the publishing house uses innovative techniques and many of its own developments to show its presence on the Internet. The highly frequented website of www.tour-magazin.de is currently one of the world's largest racing bike forums and offers cycling enthusiasts a wide range of information and exchange opportunities.
For water sports enthusiasts, the media company also offers online portals with www.yacht.de and www.boote-magazin.de, which are oriented towards the needs of the target groups and record the highest access figures in their segments internationally - not least thanks to the moving image offers YACHT-TV and BOOTE-TV.
In addition, Delius Klasing is establishing itself as one of the first special interest publishers in Germany also at the virtual newsstand. Since late summer 2011, the BIKE App, the first digital edition of a magazine from the publisher's portfolio, has been available in the App Store. Today, almost all magazines are also available in digital form.
On 1 June 2019, Delius Klasing will take over the book programme of the Hamburg-based publisher spomedis. The successful running and triathlon books with the renowned spomedis label also include the bestseller "Die Laufbibel" by Matthias Marquardt.
After publisher Konrad Delius (68) appointed Nils Oberschelp (50) to the management of Delius Klasing Verlag on 1 December 2020, the two of them have since been leading the tradition-rich family business as dual leaders.
The passion for the topics of the publishing house and the absolute claim to deliver first-class content characterise all products and services of Delius Klasing. And this has been the case for more than 100 years.
