Never without! Life jacket. If a person should go overboard, the lifejacket and recovery options are of central importance. You will learn details about the construction, use and maintenance of your lifejacket, various recovery systems will be explained and practically demonstrated in the demonstration pool (Walden system) and in trips at sea (Catch and Lift system). For the excursions at sea, please register with us on the SY Carina in the registration list.

A life jacket protects its wearer from drowning and is therefore the most important lifesaver on board. After all, there are many ways to get into the water involuntarily. Another advantage: life jackets ensure that the person in the water independently turns to the supine position and thus keeps the head above water. This keeps the airways clear.
An AIS rescue transmitter sends the position of a person who has gone overboard to all ships in the vicinity that are equipped with an AIS receiver (transponder) via an AIS signal. The integrated GPS constantly determines the current position of the person in the water. The receiver of the AIS distress signal receives this on his AIS receiver/plotter as an emergency SART sign. The Weatherdock company will show you how to use and handle the device.
An entertaining interview with Rainer Tatenhorst, head of the department of cruising and recreational sailing of the DSV about first sailing experiences and the best experiences on the water.

Everyone knows them - and everyone hopes never to need them - the sea rescuers.
The motto of the DGzRS is to go out when others come in, because its task is to rescue people from distress at sea. And it does so around the clock and in all weathers. The rescue from an emergency situation is all the faster, the more precisely the position of the people in distress on the North Sea or Baltic Sea can be determined.
