ABOUT US
For over 30 years, the carpet gallery in Graz / Styria has been a fixture in international carpet design. Inspired by modern art and architecture, Harald Geba decided to "rethink" the carpet. Since then, the exclusive Geba carpets have combined timeless, modern designs with traditional craftsmanship.
The wool used in Nepal comes from high mountain sheep from Tibet. The rugs are knotted in the two studios in Nepal. The befriended weaver families, some of whom have been working with the company for many years, use a Tibetan loop knot that looks back on a tradition dating back thousands of years. It combines the ability to create precise ornaments and patterns with the robustness required for everyday use.
From the shearing of the sheep to the finished piece, Geba rugs pass through many hands. The work of these hands should be motivated by joy and satisfaction. For this reason, carpet production follows the rules of the STEP label, which commits the company to social commitment and fair conditions and subjects it to appropriate controls.
All sizes, color variations (almost exclusively plant dyes) and materials (from wool and silk to hemp and nettle) can be used. Each rug is unique and tells an individual story. References throughout Europe show the variety of possibilities in shape, color and size.
Harald Geba: "Service in interior design is particularly important to me. I offer my customers in Austria and abroad a no-obligation consultation on site, because the ambience of the room and lighting situations influence the effect of a carpet." Customers can make a pre-selection of carpets in advance in the gallery or on the website www.geba.cc.
