A tear in the spinnaker can happen quickly. But it can also be repaired quickly. Spinnaker repair cloth should always be on board. For tears in the genoa or mainsail there are also small aids to repair them on board and continue sailing.

The citizen science project Sailing for Oxygen is a joint (citizen) research project between Trans-Ocean e.V. and the GEOMAR Research Center in Kiel. Sailors use a probe to help collect important data on temperature, oxygen and salt content on their trips in the Baltic Sea. The role model is Boris Herrmann, who also collects data on his trips with the Malizia in order to better understand climate change. We show how it works and how sailors can actively participate.
Axel Solbach ist Physiker und begeisterter Mini 6.50 Segler. Seit 2023 ist er beim Trans-Ocean e.V. (TO) Projektleiter für Sailing for Oxygen.
A lot can go wrong when looking for a boat if you buy a yacht without a plan. I'll show you how to avoid mistakes by taking a structured approach to your boat search and not jumping the gun out of infatuation. We'll discuss how to find a boat that suits you, your planned trips and your budget, and how to avoid making mistakes in the purchase process during price negotiations, the technical assessment of the yacht and the handover.
Marie Schneider accompanies and advises boat seekers throughout Europe. After a sabbatical at sea, the doctor of economics has devoted herself entirely to her passion, boats. Her YouTube channel "MARIETIM" is the largest German-language technical sailing channel. She runs theoretical and practical seminars, always with the desire to get more women interested in sailing and technical boating know-how.
What is really important? What should I not do without? What do I need to look out for and how can I check my existing contract?
What do I do in the event of a claim? And how can I change the sum insured because my boat is worth more or less? And how is a value for the sum insured determined in the first place?
These and many other questions will be answered by Andreas Medicus, Managing Partner, on the Yacht Festival stage.
It goes without saying that one or two anecdotes will be shared from the sewing box!
An entertaining and informative excursion into the world of yacht insurance!
Andreas Medicus has been on board for more than 25 years and knows the yacht insurance industry very well. He enjoys sailing in the Kiel Fjord himself.
Never without! Life jacket. If a person should go overboard, the lifejacket and recovery options are of central importance. You will learn details about the construction, use and maintenance of your lifejacket, various recovery systems will be explained and practically demonstrated in the demonstration pool (Walden system) and in trips at sea (Catch and Lift system). For the excursions at sea, please register with us on the SY Carina in the registration list.
