The widespread fear of port manoeuvres has a technical and a psychological/mental side. In our demonstration we would like to give you an idea of how it can be managed to get some calmness and composure into the procedures.
Mara Zapp is the (new) director of the sailing school Well Sailing and Richard Jeske is founder and mentor.
Mara will do the manoeuvres and Richard will give wise comments from shore - as befits a proper harbour cinema.

Setting and recovering the gennaker is not rocket science. The order of the lines is important. Setting and recovering the gennaker safely and in a controlled manner with a small crew is the topic here.

Water is an extremely heat-conducting medium; it is not for nothing that engines are cooled with water.
People cool down many times faster in water than in the air.
So if you have problems getting a MOB back on board, "interim parking" in a life raft or dinghy can significantly increase the chances of survival.
The most important thing is to get the person out of the water.

Many a boat that has been abandoned could still have been afloat if systematic spill prevention had been carried out.
On the other hand, it is also a challenge to find the right moment to abandon the boat.
How to prepare and how to act practically is the subject of the demonstration and our MINI workshops, for which please join a registration list at our Meri Crash.
The Meri Crash is our spill response training boat with real leaks and real water.
Mara Zapp, together with the moderator Hinnerk Weiler, helps to ensure that the practical demonstration does not become a dry (!) event.
