To prevent damage, you need to understand its causes. What the cold, hard numbers from yacht insurance companies mean in the real, colorful world—and what lessons everyone can learn from them.

We are open from Friday to Sunday and invite you to a guided tour of our shipyard every hour on the hour!
On the basis of our current refit projects, you can find out about modern coating techniques above and under water. We will be happy to provide information and answer your questions on the topics of yacht painting and underwater hull refurbishment, osmosis protection and corrosion protection.
Be there live and have a refit process explained to you directly on the "living object".
We look forward to your visit! Just drop by - registration is not necessary.
Peter Wrede Yacht Refits - we are all about protecting the surfaces of yachts - we are the specialists for yacht painting and underwater hull refurbishment.
For over 30 years, the coating experts have specialized in spray painting, osmosis prevention and restoration, corrosion protection, blasting and coating. With their team of around 30 Wrede craftsmen, they implement their customers' refit requests in modern blasting and painting facilities at the Hamburg, Neustadt, Kappeln and Greifswald locations.

The underwater hull... for many boat owners it can only be worked on very laboriously and usually with moderate success. But a well-maintained underwater hull is the guarantor for the value retention of a yacht.
Rust on the keel, leaking rubber joint in the keel-hull connection, damp rudder blade, over-coating, osmosis?
What is osmosis, how can it be detected, how can it be prevented or remedied? Is there a professional answer to rust and corrosion in steel and aluminum?
These are the questions we will address in our lecture and, with the help of clear photographic material, we will provide an entertaining and to the point insight into the professional underwater ship refit with the technical possibilities of the specialist.
The experts at Peter Wrede Yacht Refits specialize in yacht painting and underwater hull refurbishment: osmosis prevention / remediation, corrosion protection, blasting and coating. Modern ropes are increasingly replacing rigid wires on board. Loop splices are often used instead of shackles. Sören Zopf shows how to make such splices yourself and gives suggestions on how to save weight in the rig with modern cordage made from HMPE fibers such as Dyneema or Stirotex.
Sören Zopf advises Premiumropes' German customers on ropes, lines and other rigging issues on board sailing yachts. With his many years of experience, he can also help sailors with splicing techniques. In 2022, Sören opened the Premiumropes office in Kiel. He coordinates marketing and customer inquiries from there. On the water, he spends a lot of time on a wooden dinghy, but also on larger yachts. Sören's home waters are the Kiel Fjord.

Anyone can make an eye splice themselves! Sören is a ropes expert at Premiumropes and will explain in a hands-on workshop after the presentation on stage how to do it easily with ropes made of HMPE super fibers. Come along and join in, because splicing is not only very stable and looks good, it's also great fun to splice the lines on your own boat. Practice line and tools are provided, even for beginners - no previous experience necessary.
Modern eye splice instead of knots in the halyard. In this free workshop, Sören Zopf explains step by step how you can make an eye splice in a Dyneema rope yourself and sparks enthusiasm for clever splicing solutions on board. The workshop will be preceded by a 20-minute theory session on stage in the exhibition hall.
Sören is an active sailor from the Kiel Fjord but also sails in the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Atlantic. In addition to sailing trips and cruising, he also undertakes day trips with his dinghy. Sören also takes part in the Wednesday regattas in Kiel.
At Premiumropes, Sören Zopf works in the office in Kiel and is the contact person for German customers. During the yacht festival you will find Sören after the presentations on the stage in the exhibitor hall.

The BirdyFish is the perfect sailing dinghy to experience sailing in a new way. Thanks to the buoyancy of two L-foils together with a rudder with winglets, the BirdyFish starts to fly when planing, with the hull lifting approx. 40 cm out of the water. As the water resistance on the hull decreases, the speed increases continuously and speeds previously unimaginable with sailing dinghies are achieved - not to mention the enormous acceleration.
WHEN FLYING BECOMES ACCESSIBLE TO ALL
Until now, foiling with sailing boats was mainly reserved for professionals. There were almost no foiling sailing dinghies on which dedicated sailors, i.e. non-professionals, could try their hand at foiling without too much risk. The BirdyFish concept aims to fill precisely this vacuum and make foiling possible for foil beginners too. The design aim of the BirdyFish was to create a safe monohull platform that flies stably with self-regulating altitude and impresses with fascinating acceleration and unusually high speeds for a monohull sailing dinghy.
As a VDWS instructor, Paul Funke trains prospective sailing instructors on dinghies and catamarans. He runs the sailing department at the Rügen Piraten water sports school in Dranske.
