All sailors who do not belong to a local club are welcome to join the Cruiser Department Club (CKA). The CKA is a registered DSV club - under the stander of the CKA it is also possible to participate in regattas. In addition, every CKA member is automatically a member of the DSV Cruiser Department and can access all information and services of the DSV KA.

WHAT

A life jacket protects its wearer from drowning and is therefore the most important lifesaver on board. After all, there are many ways to get into the water involuntarily. Another advantage: life jackets ensure that the person in the water independently turns to the supine position and thus keeps the head above water. This keeps the airways clear.

How does an AIS rescue transmitter work?

WHAT

An AIS rescue transmitter sends the position of a person who has gone overboard to all ships in the vicinity that are equipped with an AIS receiver (transponder) via an AIS signal. The integrated GPS constantly determines the current position of the person in the water. The receiver of the AIS distress signal receives this on his AIS receiver/plotter as an emergency SART sign. The Weatherdock company will show you how to use and handle the device.

Everyone knows them - and everyone hopes never to need them - the sea rescuers.

The motto of the DGzRS is to go out when others come in, because its task is to rescue people from distress at sea. And it does so around the clock and in all weathers. The rescue from an emergency situation is all the faster, the more precisely the position of the people in distress on the North Sea or Baltic Sea can be determined. WHAT

As long as people have gone to sea, they have been afflicted by seasickness. From mild malaise, to severe courses, to total abandonment, it accompanies seafarers around the world. Nevertheless, not all people become seasick and for many who do, the symptoms disappear after 2-3 days at sea, they adapt. This adaptation process is the basis of a therapeutic approach that Thomas Bickhardt will explain in his lecture.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Seafaring graduate psychologist and photographer, trained sailor.
Grew up in Germany, lived on the Norwegian west coast for almost 30 years. Worked as a lighthouse keeper at Kråkenes fyr.
Institute director at TILLIT Institute, moved back to Hamburg this year. Has over 30 years of experience in the treatment of seasickness.
