Whether you want to set up a new system on board or expand an existing one, learn about the options available for the NMEA network on board and how important it is to calibrate the transducers to ensure you’re getting the correct data. With add-ons like the Orca Core 2 from Orca Navigation, a Cyclops load sensor, or a Wi-Fi gateway, I can sail safely and quickly.
Instructor Oliver Ochse works as a sailing coach on an Archambault M34 regatta yacht. On board is a Garmin N2K system with additional components from Cyclops and Orca.
The data points that are particularly interesting and can aid in navigation and sailing are always covered during the sailing training sessions on board in Mallorca.

Anne Sell highlights various ways to make a small contribution to marine research while spending time by or on the water. The projects she presents are aimed at the general public and are also suitable for children and teenagers.
Dr. Anne Sell is a marine biologist at the Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries. She leads research cruises in the North Sea to study commercially fished species and to understand how fish communities and marine biodiversity develop. She is a board member of the Wadden Sea Conservation Station and, as a sailor in her personal life, is committed to raising awareness among water sports enthusiasts about initiatives through which they themselves can contribute to marine research.

The underwater hull... for many boat owners it can only be worked on very laboriously and usually with moderate success. But a well-maintained underwater hull is the guarantor for the value retention of a yacht.
Rust on the keel, leaking rubber joint in the keel-hull connection, damp rudder blade, over-coating, osmosis?
What is osmosis, how can it be detected, how can it be prevented or remedied? Is there a professional answer to rust and corrosion in steel and aluminum?
These are the questions we will address in our lecture and, with the help of clear photographic material, we will provide an entertaining and to the point insight into the professional underwater ship refit with the technical possibilities of the specialist.
The experts at Peter Wrede Yacht Refits specialize in yacht painting and underwater hull refurbishment: osmosis prevention / remediation, corrosion protection, blasting and coating. For more than 30 years, everything we do has revolved around protecting the surfaces of yachts. With our team we realize the refit wishes of our customers in modern blasting and painting facilities at our locations in Hamburg, Neustadt, Kappeln and Greifswald.
Florian Brix, our man "at the front", has been part of the Wrede team for over 15 years and has seen just about every refit case. With his expert knowledge and great photo material, he provides insights into the professional Peter Wrede underwater ship refit.

How does one become a professional sailor in one of the most fiercely competitive boat classes in the world? Johannes Schonefeld and Tom Ismar offer insights into their 49er campaign. The presentation traces the path from youth sports to Olympic high-performance sailing, explains the structured approach of a young team, and highlights the daily challenges of balancing athleticism, technique, and professional management.
Since 2024, Johannes Schonefeld and Tom Ismar have formed an ambitious team in the Olympic 49er class. Drawing on years of experience in the 29er class, they are now focusing on professional structures and systematic training. Their goal: to make the leap to the international elite of sailing through technical precision, physical strength, and a clear strategic approach.

There is hardly any other topic on which opinions diverge as widely as they do when it comes to electric propulsion for yachts—think “range anxiety.” In addition, there are also unrealistic expectations regarding renewable energy. This presentation offers a neutral, experience-based explanation of what electric propulsion is capable of today—and what won’t be possible even in the foreseeable future.
Dr. Robert Möckel is an engineer specializing in marine mechanical engineering and a psychologist in his "second life" (M.Sc.). After working in an engine repair company, he gained experience in knowledge transfer in various teaching positions and offers seminars on technical topics on yachts. Together with his wife, he sails a Dehler 35 SV, which is based in Flensburg.

As long as people have gone to sea, they have been afflicted by seasickness. From mild malaise, to severe courses, to total abandonment, it accompanies seafarers around the world. Nevertheless, not all people become seasick and for many who do, the symptoms disappear after 2-3 days at sea, they adapt. This adaptation process is the basis of a therapeutic approach that Thomas Bickhardt will explain in his lecture.
Seafaring psychologist and photographer, trained sailor.
Grew up in Germany, lived on the Norwegian west coast for almost 30 years. Also worked as a lighthouse keeper on Kråkenes fyr.
Head of the TILLIT Institute and moved back to Hamburg in 2023. Thomas Bickhardt has over 30 years of experience in the treatment of seasickness.

Jörg Flackus of the Bad Bramstedt Federal Police Headquarters, from the Lake | Maritime Security/KrimB | Maritime Security division, provides information about the increasing number of GPS disruptions:
We, the staff of the Piracy Prevention Center (PPZ), advise German sailors on voyages through areas at risk of piracy and provide up-to-date threat alerts regarding pirate attacks worldwide. Our core competencies include conducting risk assessments and analyzing the current situation regarding crimes specific to sailing yachts, as well as developing concrete recommendations for action. Its work is complemented by workshops, monitoring, and ongoing support for long-distance and round-the-world sailors active worldwide.

More power, less weight, and peaceful nights at anchor. LiFePO4 batteries are transforming daily life on board. This presentation offers an honest overview—what’s behind the technology, what a conversion actually entails, and what you need to consider when using modern batteries. There will be time for individual questions afterward.
Christian Binsch is an electrical engineer and the owner of CB Elektrotechnik. His expertise lies in consulting, design, and installation of electrical systems on yachts—ranging from navigation technology and lithium batteries to solar power systems. As an experienced long-distance sailor, he brings practical experience directly from everyday life on board.

More speed in light winds and on broad reaches—who wouldn’t want that? There’s a wide variety of sails available for this purpose. And there are various ways to handle these sails. In this presentation, Marco Haase from OneSails Germany will guide you through the different hoisting systems and the applications of the various sail types. Don’t worry—thanks to modern advancements in the technology and design of these sails, even smaller crews can handle all of them safely and easily!
