This presentation is about the sails for the leeward course.
Modern boats and rigs offer many different types of headsails for the room sheet course. Oliver Ochse explains which sail makes sense when and what has to be considered with the gennaker, using the example of a Seascape.


ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Oliver Ochse has been working for over 20 years as a sailing instructor and sailing coach on planing dinghies, small keelboats and regatta yachts.
My work focuses on the following areas:

WHAT

Water in the ship is a nightmare for most boat owners, because water ingress can cause the boat to sink. In addition to open sea valves or burst hoses, a leak in the hull is often the cause. So it's good to be able to seal a leak quickly and safely. Mara Zapp from the Well Sailing school demonstrates this on board the Meri Crash.

The motto of the DGzRS is to go out when others come in, because its task is to rescue people from distress at sea. And it does so around the clock and in all weathers. How does an AIS rescue transmitter work?

WHAT

An AIS rescue transmitter sends the position of a person who has gone overboard to all ships in the vicinity that are equipped with an AIS receiver (transponder) via an AIS signal. The integrated GPS constantly determines the current position of the person in the water. The receiver of the AIS distress signal receives this on his AIS receiver/plotter as an emergency SART sign. The Weatherdock company will show you how to use and handle the device.

WHAT

A life jacket protects its wearer from drowning and is therefore the most important lifesaver on board. After all, there are many ways to get into the water involuntarily. All sailors who do not belong to a local club are welcome to join the Cruiser Department Club (CKA). The CKA is a registered DSV club - under the stander of the CKA it is also possible to participate in regattas.
