WHAT

Never without! Life jacket. If a person should go overboard, the lifejacket and recovery options are of central importance. You will learn details about the construction, use and maintenance of your lifejacket, various recovery systems will be explained and practically demonstrated in the demonstration pool (Walden system) and in trips at sea (Catch and Lift system). For the excursions at sea, please register with us on the SY Carina in the registration list.

WHAT

We look at the sail trim live on the sailing yacht. We trim the headsail or mainsail according to the wind conditions. Sail profile, hollow point setting, sheet tension and, in the case of the mainsail, traveler, boom vang and backstay. Understanding and using the standard trim elements.


ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Oliver Ochse has been working full-time as a sailing instructor and sailing trainer on small keelboats and sailing yachts for almost 15 years. Personal trainer for crew and skipper on many owner yachts worldwide
Until 2012, he worked as a sailing instructor and station manager at the Sail & Surf Pollensa sailing school in the north of Mallorca.
Active regatta sailor for over 30 years with keelboats at Kieler Woche, Copa del Rey and ORC World Championships as skipper and helmsman.
As a sailing professional in various positions on board regatta boats at regattas such as Palmavela, Copa del Rey and Voile de St Tropez

WHAT

A life jacket protects its wearer from drowning and is therefore the most important lifesaver on board. After all, there are many ways to get into the water involuntarily. WHAT


With its 12.5 meter boats, the Class 40 is one of the most attractive classes in international ocean sailing. It is regarded as a stepping stone between the Class Mini and the IMOCA class (Vendée Globe) and attracts thousands of spectators to the starting and arrival ports worldwide. The boats impress with their high-tech boat design and speed.
Well-known regattas in this class include the Rolex Fastnet Race and the Transat Jaques Vabre, which is considered the toughest double-handed race in the world.
