Many a boat that has been abandoned could still have been afloat had systematic leak prevention been practiced.
On the other hand, it is also a challenge to find the right moment to abandon the boat.
How to prepare and how to act practically is the subject of the demonstration and our MINI workshops, for which please join a registration list at our Meri Crash.
The Meri Crash is our spill response training boat with real spills and real water.
The citizen science project Sailing for Oxygen is a joint (citizen) research project between Trans-Ocean e.V. and the GEOMAR Research Center in Kiel. Sailors use a probe to help collect important data on temperature, oxygen and salt content on their trips in the Baltic Sea. The role model is Boris Herrmann, who also collects data on his trips with the Malizia in order to better understand climate change. We show how it works and how sailors can actively participate.
Marcus Warnke is a dedicated cruising sailor and has been Chairman of Trans-Ocean e.V. (TO) since 2022. In his role, he drives the further development of the association. Trans-Ocean supports long-distance and blue-water sailors with (online) seminars, worldwide bases and a lively community and promotes young talent in offshore regatta sailing. It is the initiator of the cooperation with GEOMAR.
